When to Travel to China

The best time to travel to Beijing, China, is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) seasons. The weather is generally mild and pleasant during these months, with comfortable temperatures and less rainfall. Spring in Beijing showcases beautiful cherry blossoms and blooming flowers, creating a picturesque setting for exploring the city’s historical sites. Autumn brings clear skies, pleasant temperatures, and stunning foliage, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities and enjoying the city’s vibrant colors. However, it’s important to note that Beijing can experience hot and humid summers and cold winters with potential snowfall. By planning your visit during the spring or autumn, you can make the most of the favorable weather and have a memorable experience in Beijing.

Access China

Metro. The Beijing metro consists of two lines, and a trip between two stations takes about four minutes. Important tourist stops include the Taoist White Cloud Temple (Baiyun Guan), the Military Museum, and the Shijingshan Amusement Park. The metro entrance is a gray square cement structure, and the ticket price is 2 yuan. Hours of operation are from 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Tips. It’s not customary to tip the hotel staff in Beijing hotels. If you want to please the maid, a few yuan will be enough.

Bargaining. It’s common to bargain at local markets, which can sometimes reduce the price several times. However, bargaining is unacceptable in stores, but you can easily exchange defective items.

Important names to know. Tourists are strongly advised to learn the names of the main attractions and major metro stations. It will make it much easier to travel around the city.
